TRON has released GreatVoyage v4.8.2, codenamed Pyrrho, as a mandatory network upgrade. Node operators must update before 23:59 Singapore Time on Aug. 16 to avoid block-synchronization problems and potential service disruptions. The release adds TVM compatibility with Ethereum’s Pectra and Osaka upgrades, including the CLZ instruction and a secp256r1 signature-verification precompile, helping developers port familiar smart-contract workloads across networks. It also migrates the node’s JSON API from fastjson to Jackson, moves monitoring metrics from InfluxDB to Prometheus, and upgrades the TRON Event Plugin to version 3.0.0. Operators using that plugin must upgrade it before updating their node. The changes are intended to modernize network tooling and maintain alignment with the wider EVM ecosystem. Because TRON hosts a large share of stablecoin activity, including a substantial portion of USDT supply, the upgrade has operational implications for wallets, exchanges and indexers that rely on the network.
