Samsung Electronics approved a 2026 shareholder-return program worth ₩90 trillion to ₩110 trillion, approximately $64.8 billion to $79.2 billion, making it the largest annual capital-return program announced by a South Korean company and roughly five times Samsung’s previous ₩20.3 trillion record in 2020. The plan includes approximately ₩30 trillion, or about $21.6 billion, in third-quarter cash dividends, a ₩15 trillion, or about $10.8 billion, treasury-share purchase for employee compensation, and a remaining amount to be determined in January 2027 through dividends, buybacks or retirements after full-year results. It implements Samsung’s policy of returning 50% of free cash flow from 2024 through 2026, taking projected three-year shareholder returns to ₩120 trillion to ₩140 trillion, or approximately $86.4 billion to $100.8 billion. The announcement followed sharply higher HBM profitability, strong AI infrastructure demand and roughly $720 million in recent consumer and vulnerable-group support.
