Investor Ross Gerber questioned whether Tesla’s existing HW4 hardware can support unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD), despite a JPMorgan Chase investor note saying the current AI/HW4 stack can run V15 and support unsupervised FSD. The note said Tesla’s AI4.5 compute system is intended to handle rising demands as robotaxi models scale, with about 10% higher FLOPS and roughly twice the memory. Gerber said current Tesla vehicles may never become genuine robotaxis and may not achieve Level 3, 4 or 5 autonomy. He had previously criticized FSD’s performance around his neighborhood in the Palisades and CEO Elon Musk’s timelines for unsupervised FSD and other technologies. Musk separately maintained that Tesla and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. would exceed bullish revenue-growth estimates by the end of the decade. Tesla shares rose 0.70% to $347.53 in overnight trading on Thursday, while Benzinga Edge Rankings showed unfavorable short-, medium- and long-term price trends and moderate Growth and Quality scores.
