Jin Air, Air Busan and Air Seoul will combine under the Jin Air name on March 17, 2027, after the boards of all three Hanjin Group carriers approved and signed a merger agreement. The transaction requires extraordinary shareholder meetings in December, approval under the Aviation Business Act, Korea Fair Trade Commission review, authorization from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and other domestic and overseas regulatory clearances. Jin Air will be the surviving entity and assume Air Busan’s and Air Seoul’s assets, liabilities, employment obligations and legal status. With 58 aircraft, the combined carrier is expected to become South Korea’s largest LCC, initially operating two fleet types while working toward long-term fleet standardization. Integration plans cover a unified Air Operator Certificate, safety and crew training, linked Incheon-Busan routes, unified digital booking systems, customer-service improvements and organizational culture programs.
