South Korea’s largest crypto exchange, Upbit, recorded about 1.15 trillion won, or roughly $830 million, in trading volume within a single hour on Saturday as XRP and TRUMP dominated the surge. The spike extended a rebound that began Aug. 21, when Upbit’s daily volume jumped 273% to roughly $1.84 billion, its strongest session since mid-March. Over 24 hours, Upbit handled approximately $3.81 billion, with XRP accounting for 32.20% of volume, TRUMP 10.93%, USDT 8.39%, Ethereum 5.44% and Bitcoin 5.40%; Bithumb and Coinone recorded about $1.954 billion and $172 million. XRP traded near $1.44 after recovering from a brutal intraday flash crash that briefly pushed it to $1.36, while TRUMP held near $2.34 amid speculation tied to a possible Robinhood Chain launch. The pickup follows months of weaker crypto activity as Korean investors favored equities and the KOSPI hit records on AI-driven semiconductor demand, leaving open whether the two-day streak signals a lasting rotation back into crypto.
