Major companies, including Boeing, SpaceX’s Starlink, Delta Air Lines and Vanda Pharmaceuticals, will sponsor the inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., the first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on the National Mall. The August 22–23, 2026, event will use a 1.7-mile, seven-turn temporary street circuit near the Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol and other landmarks. Vanda’s NEREUS-branded No. 47 Honda, entered by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and driven by Mick Schumacher, will compete, with practice and qualifying on Saturday and a 147-lap, approximately 250-mile race on Sunday broadcast live on FOX. Other sponsors include General Motors, Honda, United Airlines, Amazon.com’s AWS unit, Shell, Gulfstream, Altria, Verizon and Washington Gas. President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for the race, is expected to wave the green flag and take a lap in the presidential limousine. The event, run by Penske, will form part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and is expected to draw executives, lawmakers, administration officials and 140,000 people to race events each day, according to Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser.
