Bitcoin rose from $62,900 to $79,500 over five days, a 26% gain, while another measurement showed a 25% increase in less than 48 hours before the cryptocurrency pulled back to $75,500 and recovered to around $76,500. More than $3.1 billion in short positions were liquidated, accelerating the rally, although Bitfinex analysts said spot buying and short covering—not a major influx of new leverage—were the primary drivers. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows reached $297.6 million on Aug. 19 and $606.29 million on Aug. 20, contributing to $1.62 billion over the four trading days through Aug. 21 and reversing the previous week’s outflows. Bitcoin’s market capitalization was close to $1.540 trillion on CG and dominance rose above 58%, while total crypto market capitalization fell about $100 billion from its local peak to $2.650 trillion but remained $400 billion above Wednesday’s level. Traders identified $68,000 to $69,000 as support and $80,000 as initial resistance, with risks including profit-taking, a pullback toward $70,000 to $75,000 and higher real yields. Most major altcoins declined, but HYPE reached a record above $82, PUMP gained more than 17% and ENA rose 8%.
