JPMorgan Chase increased its holding in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust to roughly 10.4 million shares, worth about $355.7 million as of June 30, from approximately 8.3 million shares valued near $162 million in the prior quarter. The figures came from the bank’s second-quarter 13F filing with the SEC, filed Aug. 12. JPMorgan’s iShares Ethereum Trust position rose more than fourfold to about 1.17 million shares, valued near $14.3 million, representing a 338% increase from the first quarter. The bank also opened a position of roughly 47,500 shares in the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF and returned to XRP after holding none in Q1, with small positions across the Bitwise XRP ETF, Grayscale XRP Trust ETF and Armada Acquisition Corp II, a blank-check company pursuing a deal tied to the Ripple ecosystem. These crypto holdings remain a small part of JPMorgan’s $1.807 trillion in reportable assets across more than 34,000 positions, but the expansion points to deeper exposure to regulated crypto products. The holdings reflect institutional and client demand for regulated access through ETFs and can change with market conditions and client flows. JPMorgan’s next 13F, due in mid-November, will show whether it continued building or reduced its bitcoin, ether, XRP and Solana positions during the third quarter. Morgan Stanley also increased its crypto ETF holdings during the period, highlighting a broader trend among large banks.
