Coatue Management founder Philippe Laffont has concentrated nearly 23% of the firm’s $48.6 billion second-quarter portfolio in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Micron Technology and SpaceX, according to a regulatory filing. The allocation reflects a focus on the semiconductor manufacturing, memory and computing capacity needed to support AI systems. Taiwan Semiconductor accounted for 8.8% of the portfolio, while Coatue increased its Micron position by 1,794% to more than $3.6 billion, or roughly 7.5%. SpaceX represented close to $3.2 billion. The filing also highlights the risks of a potential slowdown in AI capital spending, excess chip-fabrication capacity and the historically cyclical memory market. Coatue’s positioning contrasts with Paul Tudor Jones’ more hedged approach to Micron and emphasizes the broader investor debate over whether AI demand will sustain a multiyear infrastructure cycle.
