Ripple’s dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin surpassed a $2 billion market capitalization, reaching $2.035 billion, while the XRP Ledger overtook Stellar to become the 12th-largest blockchain network by stablecoin supply. DeFiLlama data shows $1.092 billion of stablecoins on the XRP Ledger, compared with $968.67 million on Stellar, which ranks 13th. XRP Ledger stablecoin supply rose 14.29% overall and about 13% over the past week, while Stellar’s declined 5.87% overall and 6.5% over the same period. RLUSD represents 90.49% of the XRP Ledger’s stablecoin supply, or about $988.36 million, compared with approximately $1.08 billion on Ethereum. Launched in December 2024, RLUSD is designed to maintain a one-to-one U.S. dollar peg through segregated cash and cash-equivalent reserves with monthly attestations by an independent U.S.-licensed certified public accountant. Ripple is positioning it for institutional payments, settlement, liquidity management, tokenization and decentralized finance, including a lending initiative with Clearpool and Cicada Partners. The developments come as the GENIUS Act’s federal payment-stablecoin framework moves toward implementation, with the U.S. Treasury targeting January 18, 2027, for the rules to take effect.
