Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said on the 21st that the government would use every available means and capability to accelerate housing supply and address a shortage linked to declining construction starts since 2022. At a meeting with 21 Seoul district chiefs at the prime minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, Han sought closer central-local cooperation to implement the Aug. 13 supply measures. Public redevelopment, private renewal projects, mixed-use urban public housing, aging government-building redevelopment, rental housing and small-scale construction are expected to proceed in parallel. District chiefs requested faster project approvals, regulatory changes to improve profitability, greater authority and infrastructure support. Analysts say the pace of these projects could affect future housing-market supply and demand.
