Iran has urged its Middle East neighbors to avoid an economic war with the United States as tensions approach the six-month mark. Supreme National Security Council leader Mohsen Rezaei told state media that Tehran would retaliate in a seismic manner and target oil shipping routes from the Persian Gulf if neighboring countries joined U.S. pressure on Iran's economy. President Trump announced the most crushing economic operation ever targeting Iran and warned that any nation providing a lifeline to Tehran would face tremendous consequences, including halting oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers and other financial channels. Trump stated this would be an economic D-Day requiring all allies to stand with the United States to isolate and defeat the Iran threat. The comments follow Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s statement that the world has accepted Tehran’s victory and the war should end.
