The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, or CFTC (U.S. derivatives regulator), held the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C., yesterday. Created to advise the Commission on issues spanning technology, law, policy and finance, the committee discussed crypto’s regulatory evolution, artificial intelligence and compute in derivatives markets, prediction markets and the future of novel event contracts. Chairman Selig said the United States had reached a new frontier of finance and would seek to shape the rules governing innovations including blockchain, artificial intelligence and prediction markets.
