HYPE, Hyperliquid’s native token, reached $82 and gained 40.8% over the past week according to newer reporting, compared with the earlier reported 38% increase. It outperformed Bitcoin’s 22.5% gain and Ethereum’s 30.0% rise, while 24-hour trading volume exceeded $2 billion and market capitalization approached $17.17 billion. Hyperliquid recorded more than $176 billion in trading volume over roughly 30 days, with open interest above $8 billion. President Donald Trump said the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, or CFTC, the U.S. derivatives regulator, is exploring a legal and compliant pathway for Hyperliquid, a blockchain-based perpetuals exchange, to operate in the United States. The CFTC has reportedly directed staff to consider rules for non-registered crypto exchanges. A wallet linked to Multicoin Capital transferred 308,884 HYPE worth about $19.8 million to Coinbase Prime within seven hours on Aug. 20, alongside transfers of 172,710 and 62,700 HYPE valued at roughly $10.15 million and $4.37 million. Since February 2026, Multicoin-linked wallets have moved more than $100 million of HYPE to Coinbase Prime. Hyperliquid routes about 99% of perpetual and spot fee revenue through its Assistance Fund for ongoing HYPE buybacks. Prediction-market pricing for HYPE reaching $100 by the end of 2026 rose to 67% YES, although exchange deposits can precede sales, over-the-counter transactions, collateral use, or custody and do not establish Multicoin’s intent.
