The ASX 200 rose 46 points, or 0.5%, to 9,148 in Tuesday morning trade, extending the previous session’s advance and reaching its highest level in more than a week. Technology, manufacturing, energy minerals and non-energy minerals stocks led gains, while weakness in healthcare and industrial services limited the rise. BHP climbed 1.5%, Woodside Energy gained 2.1%, Wisetech Global rose 1.5% and Computershare added 1.0%; the four major banks also edged higher. Investors were focused on Fed Chair Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole, a key U.S. inflation report and Nvidia’s earnings later this week, while locally they awaited the Reserve Bank of Australia’s latest meeting minutes for policy signals. Caution persisted ahead of Australia’s July inflation report after headline inflation eased to 3.8% in June from 4.0%, but remained above the Reserve Bank’s 2% to 3% target range.
