Brent crude was trading at $90.21 per barrel at 8 a.m. Eastern Time, down $3.91 from yesterday morning's $94.12 and below $91, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell below $85, according to a recent update from social media source @CHItrader. Brent was $98.69 one month ago and $68.82 one year ago, representing changes of -8.59% and +31.08%, respectively; WTI was approximately $87.06 and Brent $92.22 earlier in August. Current Brent pricing is close to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) August 2026 outlook for an average of around $85 per barrel in the third quarter of 2026. Prediction markets indicate a low probability of crude oil reaching new all-time highs by Sept. 30. Future prices remain uncertain because supply and demand expectations can shift with OPEC+ decisions, wars, geopolitical developments, recession risks, energy policy and U.S. drilling policy.
