Bitcoin’s strongest weekly rally in three years lifted prices from under $65,000 toward $80,000 before a pullback near $77,000, with a roughly 22% seven-day gain that liquidated more than 172,000 short positions and about $3 billion in short exposure. On-chain wallet bowen1476 on August 24 opened its 15th Bitcoin short within five days, using 40x leverage on 300 BTC for a notional value of about $23 million after 14 consecutive losing trades totaling $4.56 million. The new short entered near $77,100 while Bitcoin traded around $77,500 and would profit if price falls back below entry. The wallet has not closed a profitable short since exiting 700 BTC in May 2026. Separately, the U.S. Treasury raised long-term Treasury buyback operations from $2 billion to $4 billion each.
