Bitcoin traded little changed at just over $77,100 in Asian morning hours on Aug. 24 after rising more than 20% the previous week, as traders awaited Kevin Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole later this week for clues about the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate path. Persistent inflation pressure from elevated oil prices and rising long-term Treasury yields have made Warsh’s comments a key market variable. Altcoins also posted sharp gains: XRP rose more than 46% to nearly $1.50, Hyperliquid gained more than 35% to $80, Ether climbed about 28% to $2,442, Dogecoin gained 30% to near $0.09 and Solana advanced 24%. Asian stocks weakened, with the MSCI Asia Pacific Index falling 1%. Samsung Electronics dropped 8.7% after its shareholder-return plan of up to 110 trillion won disappointed investors, Alibaba fell 9.6% after announcing a roughly $10.2 billion capital raise, and SoftBank Group declined 4.9% after planning to issue 1 trillion yen of corporate bonds to retail investors. Nvidia’s earnings report later this week could influence technology shares and wider risk sentiment amid concerns about returns on Big Tech’s artificial-intelligence spending. U.S. Treasuries gained ahead of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s announcement of a fiscal consolidation plan; the 10-year Treasury yield fell 2 basis points to 4.71%, while Brent crude declined 1.3% to about $93.20 a barrel.
