U.S. Treasury yields were broadly unchanged in Tuesday and early European trading after earlier global bond-market volatility, as investors assessed potential larger Treasury buybacks, measures intended to isolate Iran economically, and a possible cash plan. The 10-year yield was flat at 4.7021%, while the 30-year yield held at 5.2297% and the 2-year yield remained at 4.2421%. Reports said the Treasury could use part of its nearly $1 trillion General Account, its main cash balance, to finance increased purchases of long-dated securities announced last week. Investors were also awaiting employment and housing data, July personal consumption expenditures, a second-quarter GDP estimate, and Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's scheduled Jackson Hole address. German Bunds and Japanese government bonds reportedly showed similar stabilization patterns, although geopolitical and policy uncertainty remained high.
