Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon is set to meet Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kim Yun-duk on the 26th for a second round of talks on housing supply, with disagreements persisting over both Yongsan Park development and the proposed transfer of approval authority for redevelopment and reconstruction projects involving 500 or fewer units. Oh called the district-level plan "highly dangerous desk-bound administration," arguing that district office heads already manage seven of the project stages and that only 31 of 193 affected sites are at the zone-designation stage overseen by Seoul. He warned that different standards, fragmented planning and efforts to keep projects below the 500-unit threshold could result. As an alternative to housing at Yongsan Park, Oh proposed the 393,000-square-meter Tancheon Water Reclamation Center, where Seoul says 10,000 to 13,000 homes could be built alongside advanced industry and research and development facilities.
