Bitcoin’s scarcity value could become more prominent as artificial intelligence lowers the cost of producing software, content, analytics and other goods and services, Simon Gerovich, CEO of Japan-based BTC accumulation company Metaplanet, said in an Aug. 24 post on X. Gerovich argued that as AI expands the supply of almost everything, value may shift toward assets whose supply cannot be increased regardless of how much intelligence is applied. He said Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million is enforced by the network’s rules rather than by voluntary restraint, and that the asset cannot be copied or diluted. Gerovich also said Bitcoin can be used for payments anywhere in the world around the clock. Existing concerns about the decline in Japanese households’ currency value over a generation further underpin his view of Bitcoin as the scarcest asset worth owning in an age of abundance.
