The Nikkei 225 rose 0.6% above 66,000 on Wednesday, extending its previous-session advance of 328.34 yen to 65,856.43. Overnight gains in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500, sharply lower long-term U.S. Treasury yields and falling crude prices supported Japanese equities by improving risk sentiment and easing Japan’s import-cost pressures. On the 25th, the Dow closed at 53,577.40, the Nasdaq at 26,151.29 and the S&P 500 at 7,677.28; WTI futures fell 3.1% to $82.36 a barrel and Brent declined 3.9% to $88.58. Investors nevertheless sought clarity on U.S. fiscal reform plans and awaited Nvidia’s earnings for signals on artificial-intelligence demand, while unresolved Middle East and Iran-related risks could limit further gains. Advantest rose 2%, SoftBank Group gained 2.7% and Mitsubishi UFJ advanced 1.6%; Terra Drone surged more than 20% after being selected to supply its Terra B1 interceptor drone to Japan’s Self-Defense Forces.
