South Korea’s top 1% of investors by recent returns sold Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix while rotating into export-oriented medical-device and food companies, as well as nuclear-related stocks. Mirae Asset Securities said PharmaResearch, Samyang Foods, Doosan Enerbility, Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Alteogen were the five largest net buys as of 2:30 p.m. on the 26th. PharmaResearch gained as much as 8.56% after reporting strong second-quarter growth, while Samyang Foods rose more than 7% on continued overseas expansion of its Buldak brand. The traders’ shift into chipmakers on the previous day was followed by profit-taking as Nvidia’s earnings approached and U.S. semiconductor shares declined. Earlier Kiwoom Securities data had shown wealthy investors moving portfolios toward Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and other large manufacturers from internet and platform stocks, underscoring how quickly positioning has changed with the semiconductor earnings outlook.
