Aave V3 holds $3.83 billion of the $6.1 billion in USDT and USDT0 deposited across 29 decentralized finance (DeFi) venues, giving it a 62.8% market share, or nearly 63%. Token Terminal recorded the data on August 19. The concentration makes Aave a central hub for stablecoin liquidity, which can improve borrowing rates, reduce slippage and support capital efficiency, but it also increases the potential impact of a vulnerability, governance error or regulatory action involving the protocol. Aave V3 added $526 million in USDT deposits over the 90 days leading into late July 2026, equivalent to about $5.8 million of daily inflows. Its overall total value locked (TVL) fluctuated between $17 billion and $30 billion during 2026, while governance votes expanded supply limits. The deposits include USDT0, Tether's omnichain stablecoin built with LayerZero technology, operated by Everdawn Labs and licensed by Tether. Introduced in early 2025, USDT0 uses a burn-and-mint model, serves markets without native USDT issuance and remains backed 1:1 by reserves on Ethereum. It had processed more than $85 billion in lifetime bridge volume by late August 2026. Aave V3 supports USDT0 in markets including deployments on Plasma and Polygon. The other 28 venues share the remaining 37% and may lack the depth to absorb a rapid migration.
