Mackay Gold & Silver Corp. has completed its acquisition of Comstock Inc.’s Nevada mineral, mining, processing and related real estate entities in a transaction valued at more than $45 million. Mackay received full ownership of the assets, increasing its land holdings by 70% to 4,343 hectares and bringing the Comstock District’s three major vein systems under one owner. Comstock received $20 million in cash and 2 million Mackay shares valued at approximately $4.5 million, while retaining a 1.5% net smelter return royalty, a secured $7 million second-tranche payment due within 18 months and potential additional consideration of $10 million. The divestiture is expected to reduce Comstock’s annual operating costs by approximately $1.5 million as it focuses on solar recycling and renewable materials.
