Verizon is expanding its strategic partnership with Google Cloud to deploy Gemini Enterprise across customer service, network operations, marketing and employee workflows. The carrier says Google Cloud’s data infrastructure and full-stack AI capabilities will help break down data silos, standardize processes and accelerate its AI strategy after net losses in 2024 and 2025. Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience already handles the majority of Verizon’s inbound consumer calls and chats each month, while the earlier rollout reached all 28,000 customer care representatives by January 2025 and was credited by Verizon and Google with a 95% comprehensive answerability rate and nearly 40% higher service-team sales. Verizon also plans to coordinate AI agents across business functions, automate parts of content creation and marketing, and use AI to anticipate network anomalies. The effort complements the company’s fiber expansion and broader push into AI infrastructure, which executives expect to become a long-term revenue stream. In the second quarter of 2026, mobile and broadband service revenue rose 2.8% year over year to roughly $23.4 billion, postpaid phone additions reached 184,000 and broadband connections rose by 348,000, while adjusted EBITDA increased 7.2% to a record $13.7 billion. Verizon expects mobility and broadband service revenue growth to approach 4% in the fourth quarter and raised its 2026 adjusted earnings-per-share guidance to $4.99 to $5.04. The financial test will be whether the expanded AI deployment produces measurable gains in resolution rates, service costs, network reliability and churn.
