Brian Armstrong said Coinbase built a Slack feature with x402 and @CoinbaseDev that lets users ask AI agents questions and purchase necessary paid services autonomously. Demonstrated internally on August 18, 2026, the bot searches the x402 Bazaar, which lists more than 10,000 payable services, selects a provider and settles USDC micropayments on Base in roughly 200 milliseconds, with fees below one cent. Transactions within predefined spending limits require no subscriptions, manual approvals, invoices, budget requests or expense forms, and the completed answer is returned in the same Slack message. The system uses AWS’s Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments, which reached general availability in August 2026 after a May 2026 preview involving Coinbase and Stripe as early partners.
