A voluntary, anonymous Microsoft employee spreadsheet offers a rare view of compensation and internal AI adoption as the company competes with Meta, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic for AI talent. In the Cloud + AI organization, reported base salaries ranged from $111,000 to $450,000, bonuses from zero to $300,000 and stock awards from $9,000 to $1.4 million. The spreadsheet also includes AI usage data from about 350 of nearly 600 U.S. entries, with a median reported value of roughly $300 over 28 days and a high of $28,000. The self-reported figures are not official Microsoft data and represent only a small share of its roughly 223,000 employees. Microsoft expects about $175 billion in calendar-2026 capital expenditures, while Azure revenue rose 43% in its latest quarter and exceeded $100 billion for the fiscal year. That investment is occurring alongside 4,800 job cuts in July, including thousands at Xbox.
