Midnight adopts Celestia to distribute Zswap offers across its network

Midnight Network, a privacy-focused blockchain backed by Cardano’s Input Output Global (IOG), is using Celestia’s data availability layer (shared blockchain data infrastructure) to distribute Zswap offers across its network. The setup replaces a separate peer-to-peer (P2P) messaging system and gives wallets and applications access to the same offers through a shared Celestia namespace. Zswap is Midnight’s system for privacy-focused atomic swaps (asset exchanges completed as one transaction), allowing users to propose trades without exposing their identities or unrelated balance information. Celestia said the model provides shared liquidity from the start, stronger data-retrieval guarantees than conventional P2P message sharing, and savings of months of engineering work and millions of dollars in development and opportunity costs. The arrangement follows Celestia’s Fibre upgrade, which the company says can support throughput of up to 1 Tb/s while maintaining low per-blob fees. Midnight Foundation CTO Sebastien Guillemot said Celestia helps Midnight move faster and provides a foundation for scaling. Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of IOHK and the Cardano platform, also praised the partnership. Celestia described Midnight as the first chain to use its network for P2P and said other decentralized networks could adopt the same approach instead of building their own gossip systems.
