UK-based AI infrastructure startup Callosum is partnering with South Korean fabless AI semiconductor company Rebellions to enter Europe’s sovereign AI infrastructure market. The companies plan to supply more than 100 neural processing unit (NPU)-based racks to a UK government-backed AI research cluster, with the initial deployment potentially followed by two or three additional supply phases. They are also co-designing a reference architecture that integrates Rebellions’ NPUs into Callosum’s software platform, allowing customers to use the chips without separate software optimization. Callosum’s heterogeneous computing system distributes workloads across different AI models and chips, aiming to improve speed while reducing cost and power consumption. Dunamu & Partners said on the 25th that it invested $5 million in Callosum, which raised $100 million in total in a round led by European venture capital firm Atomico with participation from the UK government’s Sovereign AI Fund. The partnership with Rebellions was arranged through Dunamu & Partners’ introduction.
