China's A-share market weakened through the morning of August 25, with the Shanghai Composite, Shenzhen Component, ChiNext and STAR Composite indexes all lower by midday. The ChiNext briefly fell more than 2% before closing the morning session down 1.43%, while more than 3,600 stocks advanced as micro- and small-cap shares outperformed. Combined turnover on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges reached 1.15 trillion yuan, down 223.9 billion yuan, or about $33.3 billion, from the previous session, underscoring an existing-capital rotation regime. Agriculture led gains, with Jinjian Rice, Denghai Seeds and Wanxiang Doneed hitting the daily limit, while digital currency, tourism and innovative drug stocks also rallied. Precious metals and lithium mining fell, and weakness in semiconductors and batteries weighed on growth indexes. The market remains range-bound, with investors watching whether afternoon trading brings a style rotation and a meaningful recovery in turnover.
