Gaon Cable (000500.KS) and DL E&C have completed on-site verification of their jointly developed ACF (Aluminum Clad Flex) cable at new apartment construction sites, confirming its performance and installation efficiency and moving the technology toward full-scale commercialization. The cable uses an aluminum protective sheath that also functions as electrical conduit, combining conduit installation and wiring into a single process. The companies plan to expand its use at new apartment construction sites built by DL E&C starting next year. Since signing a joint R&D agreement in 2023, they have developed installation methods and accessory materials to address the lack of standards for exposed ACF cable installation, while using DL E&C's BIM capabilities to calculate material requirements and improve installation stability and quality. The technology is regarded as capable of reducing construction costs by up to 20-30% and shortening installation timelines. Gaon Cable is the only company in South Korea to have commercialized and supplied the product. It may also be used at logistics centers, plants and remodeling projects, where installation in tight spaces can avoid removing existing conduit or adding new conduit and help reduce structural damage.
