Bitcoin climbed above $80,000 for the first time since mid-May and reached a multi-month peak above $81,000, extending a revival that began last Wednesday. Analysts identified short-term targets as high as $88,000. The move triggered more than $260 million in liquidated positions over four hours and $650 million over the past day, with short positions accounting for most of the total. CoinGlass data showed Bitcoin responsible for half of the daily liquidations. The cryptocurrency rose more than $16,000 from below $65,000 last Wednesday. Factors cited for the resurgence included a U.S. Treasury Department announcement, the White House Crypto Summit and renewed ETF appetite; a reference to Jim Cramer was presented as a possible joke. Ether approached $2,500 after gaining 32% in a week, although that level remained a strong barrier. XRP was testing resistance at $1.50, while Solana rose more than 7.5% and moved above $100 for the first time in months.
