Bitcoin climbed above $80,000 in Asian morning trading Tuesday, gaining 4% on the day and more than 25% over the week as markets extended a rally linked to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s plan to expand bond buybacks. Bitfire Research said a momentum gauge was near 78, a level above 70 often associated with an overheated advance, and identified potential selling between $78,500 and $82,000 and buying between $72,400 and $73,500. Solana led major tokens with an almost 8% daily gain and nearly 35% weekly increase, while XRP led the majors over the week with a gain of more than 52%. Solana’s move came as validators vote on proposals to reduce SOL supply, with voting due to close Thursday. Markets are also watching Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole on Wednesday, where traders have historically looked for signals of future policy shifts.
