Bitcoin gained nearly 25% over seven days and nearly 30% during the broader rally period examined by CryptoQuant, crossing $81,000 on Aug. 25 as technical resistance, whale profit-taking and a sharp shift toward altcoin trading tested whether the move represents a bullish reversal or another bear-market bounce. Technical analyst Benjamin Cowen identified the 50-week moving average near $80,000-$81,000 as the key level, while newly accumulated whales realized more than $1.2 billion in profits over three days after Bitcoin moved above their roughly $68,900 realized price. Altcoins reached 65% of Binance trading volume, their largest share in two years, while Bitcoin represented 21% and Ether 13.6%; altcoin market capitalization rose by about $135 billion. The broader crypto market recovered roughly $500 billion to nearly $2.74 trillion during the third week of August, but the Blockchaincenter Altcoin Season Index was only 37 on Aug. 26, below the 75 threshold for a confirmed altcoin season. Elevated volume may indicate renewed risk appetite, but it does not independently prove equivalent new capital inflows or a direct rotation from Bitcoin into altcoins, and an Altcoin Impulse reading of 93% was considered overextended.
