Renault Korea’s tentative 2026 wage and collective bargaining agreement narrowly cleared a union membership vote on the 26th with 50.1% approval, after 15 formal bargaining rounds that began April 27 and a final overnight session on the 20th. The package includes a 51,000 won base-pay rise, a 2.5 million won lump sum, a variable productivity incentive of up to 100%, higher job-grade allowances, Biz points and settlement leave. Turnout reached 96.2%, underscoring deep divisions despite passage. Separately, Hyundai Motor and Kia reached tentative labor agreements on Aug. 25. Hyundai’s deal followed a 111-day dispute with partial strikes and a full walkout, offering higher base pay, bonuses, stock, welfare points and new hires. Kia’s preliminary pact averted planned strikes and would extend its no-strike bargaining streak, with membership voting scheduled soon after. Renault Korea, pressured by weak domestic sales and softer exports, aims to use labor stability to push second-half launches and export expansion alongside the broader industry push for production recovery.
