Bitcoin rose nearly 22% to 25% over seven days, moving from $62,679 on August 17 to a high of $81,265 on Tuesday and trading at $79,136 in one report and $78,280 in another. Polymarket traders assigned an 8% probability that Bitcoin would reach $90,000 before Sept. 1, 2026, with odds of 70% for $77,500, 52% for $82,500, 26% for $85,000 and 1% for $100,000. The rally was supported by about $1.6 billion in net U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows, expanded Treasury bond buybacks, improving liquidity, regulatory optimism and liquidated short positions. Arkham Intelligence estimates that roughly 1.096 million Bitcoin across 22,000 addresses associated with Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, rose in value from about $71 billion to as much as $87 billion, with a later estimate of $85.82 billion. Separately, Galaxy Research reported that 40 BTC received on May 28, 2012, moved after roughly 14.2 years of inactivity to Boerse Stuttgart Digital, generating an estimated $3.16 million realized profit.
