U.S. stock futures edged higher on Monday, led by a rebound in memory chip stocks after the sector’s previous-session sell-off. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.11%, Nasdaq 100 Index Futures gained 0.52% and S&P 500 futures advanced 0.21%, putting all three major index futures in positive territory and suggesting recovering investor risk appetite. SK Hynix, SanDisk, Western Digital and Seagate Technology each gained more than 1% in premarket trading, reversing losses in which SanDisk fell more than 4% and SK Hynix, Micron Technology, Seagate Technology and Marvell Technology each dropped more than 3%. Optical communications stocks also strengthened, with Applied Optoelectronics up more than 3% and Corning, Coherent and Lumentum each rising over 1%. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index slipped 0.02% and the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 0.12%, but Montage Technology, GigaDevice and Nexchip Semiconductor each climbed nearly 5%. The moves suggest short-term volatility has not fundamentally altered the sector’s medium-term outlook, while demand for high-speed optical modules (hardware for fast data transmission) remains linked to AI compute infrastructure buildouts. Investors are watching this week’s macroeconomic data and shipment guidance from major memory manufacturers to assess whether the rebound can continue.
