Bank of Montreal aims to launch a share-buyback program after reporting improved operating results in recent quarters. Net income fell in the fiscal third quarter to C$1.75 billion, or C$2.38 a share, from C$2.33 billion, or C$3.14 a share, a year earlier, after the bank absorbed a charge from the sale of assets. BMO shares were down 0.67%. A share buyback allows a company to repurchase its own stock, potentially reducing the number of shares outstanding.
