India’s BSE Sensex rose about 0.4% to open at 77,977 on Wednesday, supported by falling crude prices and hopes for a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, before edging down about 0.1% to 77,387 on Thursday as selling pressure persisted. Brent crude fell about 2.7% to around $86.20 a barrel on Wednesday and about 0.6% to $87.30 on Thursday. Investors also assessed global uncertainty, bond yields, Nvidia’s results, India’s growth outlook and Reserve Bank of India policy signals. Thursday’s laggards included ICICI, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Copper, Multi Commodity Exchange and Steel Authority of India, while Adani Power, Welspun Corp and Kotak Mahindra gained.
