Esquire Financial Holdings ranked third among the 300 largest publicly traded U.S. banks in Bank Director’s 2026 RankingBanking study, which used year-end 2025 data compiled by Piper Sandler & Co. from S&P Global Market Intelligence. Banks were evaluated on return on average total assets, return on average tangible common equity, tangible common equity to tangible assets, and nonperforming assets to loans and other real estate owned. The 25 highest-ranked banks had a median net interest margin of 4.11%, compared with 3.57% for the rest of the list, underscoring the importance of lending and deposit discipline. Commerce Bancshares ranked first, followed by Bank7 Corp. and Esquire Financial Holdings. Southern banks accounted for nine of the top 25 positions, while California institutions held seven.
