Chainalysis said on Aug. 25, 2026 that Operation Lighthouse, a multi-day public-private crypto-intelligence sprint, examined 29,120 cryptocurrency addresses and digital identifiers tied to more than 100 CSAM platforms, forums and distribution networks on the surface web and dark web. Hosted at the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance in New York after months of data enrichment, the effort generated 14,300 investigative leads, flagged more than 7,700 suspect accounts in 125 countries and shared leads with 11 cryptocurrency exchanges and payment services. Chainalysis stressed the figures reflect separate investigative stages and are not interchangeable counts. Among flagged accounts were 16 registered sex offenders, with the suspect pool also including military personnel, law enforcement officers, medical professionals, educators and others who may have direct access to children; two participating companies alone identified at least 150 individuals. More than nine law enforcement agencies and private-sector and nonprofit partners took part, including Europol, the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the UK National Crime Agency, Binance, Coinbase, Block and the Internet Watch Foundation. The operation builds on broader industry detection work, including Binance’s July partnership with Stop The Traffik, and on prior blockchain-tracing cases such as the 2019 Welcome to Video takedown. Expected outcomes include arrests, prosecutions and account-level disruption, with Chainalysis aiming to replicate the model against other illicit crypto typologies.
