Kia reached a tentative agreement with its union for the 2026 wage and collective bargaining talks, avoiding a strike and extending the company’s run of strike-free negotiations to six consecutive years. The deal, reached during the 12th main bargaining session at AutoLand Gwangmyeong on the 25th, includes a 100,000 won increase in base pay, a performance bonus equal to 300% of monthly wages plus 4 million won, a quality improvement incentive of 100% plus 4.7 million won, and a 4 million won bonus marking the 2026 Autocar Awards. Workers would also receive 47 treasury shares for concluding collective bargaining and 500,000 special points if the 2026 record production and sales targets are met. The agreement is subject to a union membership vote on the 28th. Kia and its union separately agreed to strengthen measures against serious industrial accidents, support employment through future competitiveness, and establish a 4 billion won social contribution fund for community development and people in need.
