The PGA Tour unveiled a 33-event 2027 regular-season schedule that begins with The American Express in La Quinta, California, on Jan. 21 instead of Hawaii, ending 56 years of tournaments in the state. The schedule reshapes the West Coast and Florida swings, adds the Sompo Championship in Napa, California, and replaces Wyndham with Raymond James as sponsor of the Greensboro finale. The 2027 FedEx Cup Playoffs will be the last under the current three-event stroke-play format. Beginning in 2028, the postseason will open with a 72-hole PGA Tour Championship Series Finale for the top 90 players on the points list, followed by a two-week Tour Championship in which 32 players compete in group-stage and single-elimination match play to determine the Tour Champion. The changes were developed by the nine-member Future Competition Committee chaired by Tiger Woods and build on June-approved plans for a promotion and relegation model featuring Championship and Challenger Series.
