Stability AI has closed a $76 million Series B round, bringing total capital raised under CEO Prem Akkaraju to $232 million. Strategic backers include Electronic Arts, Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures, with returning investors Coatue, Greycroft, Kadmos Capital, Sean Parker and Eric Schmidt. The financing caps a turnaround after Akkaraju took over in June 2024 amid roughly $100 million in debt and about $300 million in future cloud obligations; by December 2024 the company said it was debt-free with triple-digit business growth. Funds will support its creative production suite, applied research and professional services, following the Stable Audio 3.0 DAW plugin launch and co-development partnerships with major labels and EA. Coatue co-founder Thomas Laffont joined a board that already includes James Cameron and Executive Chairman Sean Parker, as Stability continues to navigate Getty Images litigation in the U.S. and a separate suit from co-founder Cyrus Hodes.
