Nvidia unveiled its next-generation Jetson Orin Nano 2 robotics computer on Tuesday, U.S. Eastern Time, as Aptiv expanded its collaboration with Nvidia to develop production-ready edge AI platforms for robotics, industrial automation and automotive deployments. The compact platform processes AI locally, delivers up to 78 TOPS, or trillion operations per second, and provides twice the inference performance of the Jetson Orin Nano Super while using 40% less power at comparable performance in 15-watt mode. Aptiv shares rose 6.2% intraday after the June 1 collaboration announcement, although meaningful automotive and industrial revenue typically takes 12 to 24 months and the Orin Nano 2 is not expected to launch until the first half of 2027. Aptiv is contributing Cyber Resilience Act-ready Yocto platforms, enterprise Linux support, security features, lifecycle management and commercial deployment tools. Nvidia is targeting home robots, vision AI systems, delivery and inspection drones and other physical AI applications, with more than 3 million developers using its robotics technology stack.
