The Human Rights Foundation has awarded more than 600 million satoshis, valued at $472,807 at current prices, to 16 projects through its Bitcoin Development Fund. The grants cover Africa, Asia and Latin America and support Bitcoin protocol development, practical payment access, secure communications and community infrastructure for dissidents. This is HRF’s second funding round of 2026, following support for 26 projects announced in April. An earlier record reported more than 60 million satoshis at a similar dollar value, creating a discrepancy that is superseded here by the current announcement. Recipients include BitSpenda, Project Island Resilience, Bitzed, Libbitcoinkernel, Floresta, BDK-Dart, WalletScrutiny, several Nostr-based communications projects, the 256 Foundation, My First Bitcoin, Agora, HODL: Hands On Design Lab and Hack4Freedom.
