NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) has disclosed a stake in Generate Biomedicines, but the biotech’s co-founder and CTO Gevorg Grigoryan said GPUs are a prerequisite rather than a lasting competitive advantage in AI-driven drug discovery. Generate uses NVIDIA hardware and technical expertise in GPU architecture, accelerated computing and optimized software to scale biological workloads. Its platform generates molecular candidates, tests them experimentally and feeds the results back into its models. Grigoryan said durable advantages will come from proprietary biological data, experimental measurement at scale and the ability to continuously connect generation with testing and learning. The partnership highlights NVIDIA’s expanding role as both an infrastructure provider and technology partner, while suggesting investors may increasingly focus on self-improving AI platforms rather than computing access alone.
