MEXC to exit Netherlands, recommends Bybit EU for local users

MEXC is ending services for customers in the Netherlands and has publicly recommended MiCAR-authorised Bybit EU as an alternative. The arrangement does not transfer customer accounts or assets between the exchanges: users must register with Bybit EU, complete its identity checks and move their crypto themselves. MEXC will contact affected customers with instructions and timelines, and is encouraging them to transfer assets by Oct. 31 before its final Dutch offboarding date of Nov. 16, 2026. MEXC does not appear in ESMA’s latest register of authorised crypto-asset service providers and therefore lacks the MiCA authorisation required to provide regulated services across the European Economic Area after the applicable transition period. Bybit EU has held a CASP authorisation from Austria’s Financial Market Authority since May 2025, allowing its approved services to be passported across the EEA. The recommendation illustrates how MiCA is directing customers from unauthorised providers toward regulated exchanges or self-hosted wallets. Eligible new Bybit EU customers can receive Bitcoin and fee-related incentives, while the company continues serving the region through separately opened accounts as access to its global platform is restricted.
