Demotech, Inc. will sponsor the inaugural Business Insurance Claims Legal Series Conference on Nov. 11, 2026, at the Union Club of The City of New York. The one-day, in-person program will examine how litigation financing (outside funding for legal claims) and plaintiff bar activities may disadvantage insurers and raise consumer costs as litigation reaches historical highs. Demotech President and Co-founder Joseph Petrelli said technology-enabled litigation instigation, an online business model used by some plaintiff firms and sometimes funded by third-party litigation financiers, has operated since circa 2015 and was identified through Demotech's 2022 postmortem and research project. Business Insurance publisher Steve Acunto said the series will address trends and strategies involving claims processes, new technologies and artificial intelligence. The conference will feature two sessions and a luncheon, with final details and registration to follow.
